How to up your mascara game!

I've been struggling with the mascara battle for a while now and although some people are blessed with naturally long curled lashes, i am not. For ages i was spending a large amount of my time getting ready just focusing on making my eyelashes significantly obvious. So i wanted to share this easy trick to bump up your lashes to the next level!

My eyelashes are very straight and and are average in length, whenever i curled my lashes and wore mascara it would eventually fall straight within an hour. It got to the point that i was fed up with spending so long on something that looked JUST okay. I started wearing false lashes on a daily basis- don't panic the natural type- i probably did this for months before getting fed up of spending the money on lashes when i could just buy one tube of mascara. So i took to the internet for help and i have adapted this trick to work for me. 

This has literally turned my makeup routine around completely, I spend half the time applying mascara than i did putting in false lashes or using my old mascara routine plus my lashes stay curled and long all day! Ive taken photos of individual steps i take, so that you can see the visual difference that this trick makes.

Okay, so these are my eyelashes with normal mascara on. They are visible and a little curled, however after a little while my lashes straighten and they become less noticeable. This might be better for someone who prefers really natural lashes, but i prefer my eyelashes to stand out more.

Step 1: Eyelash Curlers
This is how my lashes look naturally, nothing impressive. On the right is once i have used eyelash curlers and you can see how much of a difference it has made already- i know a lot of people that don't use eyelash curlers, so i thought i'd include this so you could actually see the difference. 

Step 2: Apply a THIN layer of waterproof mascara. 

This step is the main part, waterproof mascara is oil-based and keeps the curl and shape of your lashes whereas water-based mascaras relaxes and creates a more natural lash. This is perfect for people with stubborn straight lashes who struggle to get that curl to hold. Waterproof mascara is more difficult to remove, and can damage your lashes if you are harsh when removing. Which i why i recommend using only a thin layer- it will fix the curl in place while the struggle removing the mascara is kept to a minimum.

Step 3: continue your normal mascara routine.

Now that your lashes should be held to the shape you want, you can use your favourite mascara(s) to add the extra length or volume that you desire!
