Visiting London and Tate Art Galleries

Yesterday i went on a coach trip to London with my A-Level art classes and although i have been before, who can pass up an opportunity to visit both Tate Galleries??

Waking up at 4am and leaving on the coach at 6 no doubt everyone was tired but the seating was cramped and the air con was not particularly fantastic to say the least. It got very uncomfortable very fast.
An image taken while walking through
London, I was completely fascinated
 with the beauty.
Travelling for about 5 hours i think, we arrived at the Tate Modern museum first. I have to say Tate modern is my favourite out of the two purely because the work is more inspiring to me, we only had an hour to explore and i loved the work in the exhibitions.

We didn’t manage to look at the entire gallery because we had a boat scheduled to take us up to Tate Britain which is further along the Thames. Resting on the boat for about 30 mins we reached the gallery.

We had 2 and a half hours to look here, and we managed to get around pretty quickly. The highlight of the trip was realising that Tracey Emin’s ‘an unmade bed’ was on exhibition! Seeing it in person was exciting and i have to say it was pretty disgusting but fascinating none the less!

Tracey Emin's 'an unmade bed' in Tate Britain Gallery.
This is her actual bed. It is covered in stains and marks,
she even included a pair of dirty underwear and used tights.
The floor surrounding her bed was filthy. Filled with old rubbish,
used tissue, cigarette butts, an empty vodka bottle,
used condoms and other pretty gross things!

The point of this was to be disgusting but i still love it,
it is very informal and personal and represents a 'real' lifestyle t
hats what i love most about it.

We managed to go for a little wonder through the local streets around the gallery so that i could get a drink, and got a sneaky starbucks at the same time, my first ever one! which was really needed i have to say as i was exhausted. I've never had coffee so went for the typical ‘white girl’ starbucks stereotype and got a caramel frappuccino and it was pretty nice I have to admit.

Beautiful autumn-dusted streets of London.

The journey back was torture! 10 minutes on the coach felt like 40 uncomfortable minutes so time just dragged. We struggled to sleep, it was hot and to make it even better my headphones broke! We got home at 12ish and as soon as my head hit the pillow i was out for the count!

There were loads of pieces that i loved in both of the galleries, these are just a few more of my favourites.
